Lecturer In Chemistry

Iowa State University’s Department of Chemistry invites applications for a part-time Lecturer position for the Fall 2026 semester.

About the role

The successful candidate will teach one section of CHEM 1780, manage student learning and assessment, and supervise a teaching assistant for grading and related duties. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Instruct CHEM 1780 as the course instructor
• Address student learning needs and concerns
• Assess student progress through exams and other metrics
• Provide guidance and oversight to a teaching assistant for grading and other duties

Requirements

• PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as the instructor of record for a university-level general-chemistry course
• Experience managing teaching assistants in a general-chemistry setting
