About the Role

The Department of Chemistry in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking a Lecturer for Fall 2026 semester to teach one section of CHEM 1780. Lecturers provide effective learning for students as scholarly teachers.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as instructor for Chem 1780
  • Address student learning and issues
  • Assess student progress through exams and other metrics
  • Provide guidance to teaching assistant for grading and other duties

Required Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Chemistry or related area
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship (immigration sponsorship is not available for this position)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience as the instructor of record in general chemistry at the university level
  • Experience managing teaching assistants for a general chemistry course
