About the role

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Binghamton University invites applications for a non-tenure-track, full-time lecturer position starting January 2026. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience teaching biomedical engineering courses, including laboratory and senior design capstone courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Responsibilities

  • Teach biomedical engineering courses, with a focus on computational courses within the Computational Biosystems Concentration Track.
  • Assist with and supervise senior capstone design lecture courses and design teams.
  • Supervise and manage undergraduate and graduate laboratory courses, including the biomedical engineering lab, bioinstrumentation lab, and life science and medical labs.
  • Set up, maintain, and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance for laboratory instrumentation.
  • Engage in department administration, including research lab space management and supervision of graduate teaching assistants.
  • Collaborate with faculty to improve teaching programs and ensure ABET accreditation compliance.
  • Design and implement effective teaching and learning processes, including writing training materials.
  • Participate in education workshops, conferences, and institutional functions such as departmental committees and recruitment efforts.

Requirements

  • Required: Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience working with diverse faculty, students, and staff.
    • Proficiency in operating, maintaining, and training others on biomedical engineering equipment, including fluorescent microscopy, uniaxial tensometers, cell culturing, biosafety cabinets, fume hoods, cryostorage, autoclaves, microfluidics fabrication, and plate readers.
    • Experience engaging undergraduates with modern teaching technologies and participating in biomedical engineering education workshops.
    • Collaborative experience in improving teaching programs for ABET accreditation and participation in departmental committees.
