Lecturer I (Architecture)

Prairie View A&M University invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer I in the School of Architecture.

A Presidential proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025. Texas A&M University will not pay this fee. Additionally, a moratorium on new H-1B filings issued by the Texas Governor on January 27, 2026, may affect employment sponsorship for candidates requiring visa status.

About the Role

The position involves teaching architecture courses, mentoring students, conducting research, and providing service. Salary is determined by the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in Architecture and mentor students.
• Conduct research and service activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
• Three years of teaching experience at the collegiate undergraduate level, including architecture design studios, CAD, multimedia, visual graphic communication, and other required courses.
• Five years of professional experience working in architectural and/or firms.

Qualifications

• Ability to coordinate studios with technical-based courses and assist students in preparing for careers in architecture.
• Excellent communication and graphic skills.
• Proficiency in architectural and graphic software.
• Familiarity with NAAB accreditation and assessment.
• Demonstrated participation in project programming, design, and technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• A terminal degree or Ph.D. in Architecture.
• Ten years of architectural practice with a broad portfolio demonstrating real-world experience applicable to the classroom and studio.
