About the College

The College for Health, Community and Policy trains students to develop solutions for complex social issues to improve community well-being. The college comprises seven academic departments and one program—criminology and criminal justice, kinesiology, nutrition and dietetics, psychology, public administration, public health, social work, and sociology and demography—along with multiple research centers and institutes.

About the Department

The Department of Psychology, part of the College for Health, Community and Policy, hosts over 2,200 students and offers BA, MS, and PhD programs. The department includes 22 tenured and tenure-track faculty and 5 full-time teaching faculty, with strong collaborations across research institutions, medical centers, and industry partners.

Salary: $4,000 per course

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality instruction for an undergraduate Introduction to Psychology course.
• Prepare course materials and conduct face-to-face classroom instruction at the downtown campus.
• Assess student learning and maintain timely communication with students.
• Adhere to departmental and university policies on teaching, assessment, and academic integrity.
• Engage in limited work on the main campus as needed (e.g., onboarding, meetings, or training).

Requirements

• M.S./M.A. in Psychology or a Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely-related discipline.
• Previous experience teaching at least one of the following: introductory psychology, social psychology, biopsychology, developmental psychology, abnormal psychology, cognitive psychology, experimental psychology, or statistics.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint), statistical software (e.g., SPSS, JASP, R, MPLUS), and online classroom platforms (e.g., Zoom, Canvas, Blackboard, Camtasia).
• Ability to teach primarily face-to-face at the downtown campus, with flexibility to work on both campuses as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Psychology.
• Two years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
• Prior experience teaching in psychology.
