Eastern Washington University’s Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (CSEE) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Lecturer position in Cybersecurity beginning September 2026.

About the role

The successful candidate will teach lower-division undergraduate courses in both Computer Science and Cybersecurity. Typical assignments include, but are not limited to:

  • CS1 in Java
  • CS2 in Java
  • C & Unix Programming
  • Cybersecurity Fundamentals

The department offers bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science, Cyber Operations, and Electrical Engineering, as well as master’s degrees in Computer Science and Cybersecurity. The Cybersecurity program has seven faculty members and approximately 150 undergraduate and 10 master’s students.

Classes are taught at both the Catalyst Building in downtown Spokane’s University District—a high-tech hub for innovation and entrepreneurship—and the main EWU campus in Cheney.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching undergraduate lower-division Computer Science coursework as instructor of record
  • Ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that supports the diverse needs of students, faculty, staff, and the public

Preferred Qualifications

  • College-level teaching experience with positive student evaluations

Pay

$79,949 per academic year (9 months).

Schedule

Mid-September through mid-June, with a teaching load of 45 credits per academic year. Schedule may vary by quarter in response to course assignments.
