Part-time lecturer position for Fall 2026 to teach CHEM 533: Polymer Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at California State University San Marcos.

About the Role

This in-person course meets on Tuesdays from 5:00 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. during the Fall 2026 semester.

Course Description

Introduces the basics of polymer synthesis. Traditional polymerization techniques, such as free-radical, anionic chain, and step-growth polymerization, as well as newer methods of polymer synthesis will be discussed. Preparation of advanced block, star and brush copolymers, semi-conducting and biodegradable polymers, and the fundamentals of structure and physical properties of polymers, and methods of characterization will also be covered.

Requirements

  • A Master of Science in Chemistry
  • Experience teaching chemistry at the college level

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry
  • Experience teaching a course in analytical chemistry or instrumental analysis
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence and a commitment to serving a diverse campus community as it relates to teaching and service

Pay

Anticipated hiring salary range: $5,507 - $6,249 per full-time month. Salary is commensurate with degree level and experience.

Salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification:

  • Lecturer A - AY: $5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month
  • Lecturer B - AY: $6,221 - $13,224 per full-time month

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range.
