We are looking for an experienced Leaves Administrator to support a healthcare organization in Modesto, California. This is a long-term contract opportunity.
About the role
Focus on creating and maintaining an employee-centered leave administration process while partnering closely with leadership and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of leave programs, compliance requirements, and employee relations practices, along with the ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism and care.
Responsibilities
- Manage a wide range of employee leave cases, including medical, family, disability, personal, and other approved time away from work.
- Oversee each leave request from initial intake through return-to-work, ensuring documentation is complete and timelines are properly monitored.
- Apply federal, state, and local leave regulations as well as company guidelines to support compliant and consistent case administration.
- Serve as a key point of contact for employees, managers, human resources, payroll, and benefits partners regarding leave status, requirements, and next steps.
- Maintain accurate case records, supporting documents, and system updates related to leave activity and employee absences.
- Coordinate workplace accommodations, return-to-work planning, and fitness-for-duty clearance when required.
- Provide clear guidance to employees on eligibility, required paperwork, available leave options, and balance-related questions.
- Prepare reports and review absence patterns to help the organization monitor leave utilization and identify trends.
- Partner with management to help develop a more employee-focused approach to leave administration and related processes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in leave administration, human resources, benefits, employee services, or a closely related function.
- Working knowledge of applicable leave laws and programs, including family and medical leave, disability leave, and relevant state-based requirements.
- Strong background in employee relations and the ability to address leave matters with sound judgment and professionalism.
- Excellent organizational skills with a high level of accuracy in case tracking, recordkeeping, and documentation management.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with employees and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
- Experience using HR, benefits, or case management systems to manage leave activity and reporting.
- Familiarity with local employment law, leave requests, and return-to-work coordination is preferred.
