Lease Accountant

Role Summary

The Lease Accountant is responsible for managing and accounting for all lease-related transactions, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards (ASC 842 / IFRS 16), and supporting accurate financial reporting and audit requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze lease agreements (real estate, equipment, etc.)
• Determine proper lease classification and accounting treatment
• Calculate and record:
• Lease liabilities
• Right-of-use (ROU) assets
• Amortization schedules and interest expense
• Prepare monthly lease-related journal entries (rent expense, amortization, interest)
• Support month-end and quarter-end close activities
• Ensure all lease transactions are recorded accurately and timely
• Reconcile lease-related GL accounts (ROU assets, lease liabilities, prepaid rent, deposits)
• Maintain accurate lease subledger and supporting schedules
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements
• Maintain lease database and ensure data accuracy
• Track lease modifications, renewals, and terminations
• Collaborate with Real Estate, Legal, Procurement, and AP teams to gather lease information
• Support budgeting and forecasting for lease-related expenses
• Provide variance analysis and reporting insights

Compensation

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000 - 90,000 + bonus + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. At Novolex, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
