Learning Support Teacher
About the role
This position is a special education teacher position designed to support special education professional staffing needs across the district. The position is expected to instruct in direct reading instruction, math instruction, executive function needs, and social emotional needs. The position will have case management duties.
Responsibilities
- Teach in direct reading instruction, math instruction, executive function needs, and social emotional needs
- Instruct students with various disabilities
- Provide DI remedial instruction
- Monitor and adjust instruction based on data analysis
- Work collaboratively with regular education staff
- Teach in a blended or online format as requested by administration
Skills
- Strong interpersonal/collaborative skills
- Organizational skills and effective written communication
- Knowledge of diagnostic implications of various disabilities
- Experience with collaborative instructional practices
- Experience with Direct Instruction teaching replacement skills
- Knowledge and application of Ch 14 requirements
- Training in differentiating instruction, reading and math strategies, executive functioning, assessment, and applied behavior analysis
- Experience with collaborative learning
- Computer background in Windows
- Data interpretation for classroom/school improvement planning
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Education (Special Education / Elementary Education)
- Valid and active Pennsylvania Teaching Certifications in Special Education (PK-8 and/or PK-12)
- Three to five years of teaching experience preferred
- Experience and working knowledge of collaborative instructional practices with regular education staff as well as Direct Instruction experience teaching replacement skills (Reading, Writing, Math, Executive Processing, and Social Emotional Skills) to mastery
