Learning Support Assistant

Main Duties

• Supporting class Co-tutor and lecturer with the preparation of resources to meet the personalized learning intentions of allocated students.
• Providing 1:1 support under supervision for the delivery of skills based learning.
• Using a range of communication strategies to support communication with students with complex needs.
• Supporting the social and emotional needs of young people.
• Working closely with class lecturer to report on progress using an evidence-based approach.
• Building and maintaining successful relationships with students; treating them consistently with respect and consideration.
• Promoting and reinforcing students' self-esteem, social development and independence, encouraging students to interact with others and engage in activities.
• Supporting students' in or outside the classroom throughout the school day, in a range of subjects and activities.
• Aiding and supporting students with therapy needs as directed by the Therapists, including Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy.
• Supporting students' learning in the wider curriculum, which may include visits and trips out of school as required.
• Being flexible, adaptable and working collaboratively with colleagues.
• Having a compassionate nature, with a real desire to help others.
