Learning Support Assistant
Main Duties
- Supporting class Co-tutor and lecturer with the preparation of resources to meet the personalized learning intentions of allocated students.
- Providing 1:1 support under supervision for the delivery of skills based learning.
- Using a range of communication strategies to support communication with students with complex needs.
- Supporting the social and emotional needs of young people.
- Working closely with class lecturer to report on progress using an evidence-based approach.
- Building and maintaining successful relationships with students; treating them consistently with respect and consideration.
- Promoting and reinforcing students' self-esteem, social development and independence, encouraging students to interact with others and engage in activities.
- Supporting students' in or outside the classroom throughout the school day, in a range of subjects and activities.
- Aiding and supporting students with therapy needs as directed by the Therapists, including Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy.
- Supporting students' learning in the wider curriculum, which may include visits and trips out of school as required.
- Being flexible, adaptable and working collaboratively with colleagues.
- Having a compassionate nature, with a real desire to help others.
