Learning Specialist, Alpha - $100,000/year USD

About the role

Full-time on-site position at a single Alpha campus location: Phoenix, AZ; Oklahoma City or Tulsa, OK; Fort Worth (Keller), Dallas, Plano, or The Woodlands, TX; or Park City (Salt Lake City), UT (relocation assistance available)

Responsibilities

• Create and facilitate small-group K-2 reading sessions rooted in structured-literacy approaches (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or comparable), informed by live student performance data
• Facilitate daily motivational activities that ensure 100% of students reach their weekly adaptive-app targets, applying Alpha's motivational system (school currency, leaderboards, developmentally appropriate gamification)
• Conduct and evaluate running records, fluency assessments, and decoding diagnostics to monitor progress and refine subsequent instruction
• Analyze AI-generated performance insights from Alpha's adaptive platforms to differentiate instruction dynamically, not only during planning phases
• Serve as the engaging, high-energy presence your K-2 students eagerly anticipate each day

Requirements

• Structured-literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, Neuhaus, UFLI, or comparable) OR Master's degree in reading instruction
• Bachelor's degree in any discipline, plus at least 2 years of full-time K-2 structured reading instruction in a school or clinical environment, applying systematic phonics or structured literacy
• Proven ability to independently design reading lessons and clearly explain instructional content and methodology, without dependence on a published program
• Willingness to work on-site full-time at one Alpha campus
• Willingness to work with the full K-2 student population and to incorporate AI and adaptive-learning platforms into everyday instruction

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Direct experience with AI-driven or adaptive reading systems (e.g., Amira, Lexia, i-Ready, Reading Plus) for instructional planning or data interpretation
• Documented record of quantifiable reading growth (fluency gains measured in WCPM, accuracy increases, decoding level progression) with specific figures
• Experience in alternative or innovative educational settings (charter, micro-school, Montessori, hybrid models)
• Experience in performance, youth sports coaching, or other contexts requiring engagement of K-2 audiences beyond the reading classroom
