Learning Officer (Term-time only)
This role is key to supporting the Mary Rose as it continues its work by creating, maintaining, and developing an inspirational visitor experience together with conserving and securing the collection and archive, thus enabling lifelong learning and research. The Learning Officer is a key role for the Mary Rose Trust, supporting the delivery of our Learning and Community initiatives.
About the role
You will have a passion for excellence when delivering learning within the museum and outreach communities, ensuring that we provide the best possible learning environment. This role will suit an individual with experience of working with schoolchildren and teachers and who has a keen interest in history, archaeology, and education.
Responsibilities
- Deliver learning programs within the museum and outreach communities.
- Support the development and maintenance of an inspirational visitor experience.
- Contribute to the conservation and security of the collection and archive.
- Work both independently and as part of a team in a busy and demanding environment.
Requirements
- Experience working with schoolchildren and teachers.
- Keen interest in history, archaeology, and education.
- Ability to work well both in a team and independently.
- Subject to a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of Naval Base Security Clearance.
Schedule
- Permanent term-time only contract: 2 days per week (11 hours), 38 weeks per year, worked on Thursday and Friday between 9:30 AM and 3:00 PM.
- Fixed-term additional contract: 1 day per week (5.30 hours) on Tuesday between 9:30 AM and 3:00 PM, from 1 September 2026 until approximately 8 June 2027 (to cover maternity leave). After this point, the role will revert to 2 days per week.
