About the role
The Learning and Development Specialist delivers, implements, and evaluates learning programs to support associate development and performance across the organization. Program topics include leadership, professional development, and role-specific content such as product knowledge and customer service skills.
This role coordinates the implementation and delivery planning for assigned programs to ensure effective execution, collaborates with the Training and Development team on program design and development, and supports the sourcing of vendor-led learning programs.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates leadership and professional development programs to ensure leaders and team members have the skills and knowledge to perform in their roles.
- Teaches various topics to store Associates (Service and Sales, Product Knowledge, Business Knowledge, etc.) to equip them with the tools needed for success.
- Plans and implements training events, including session scheduling, participant enrollment, and material preparation.
- Develops learning materials, curricula, job aids, and other training resources to support ongoing associate development.
- Maintains class records and user information in the learning management system (Brainshark) and produces daily and weekly reports.
- Collaborates with team members to provide delivery feedback, course updates, design input, and recommendations for continuous improvement of learning programs.
- Creates an engaging learning experience in the classroom for visual, auditory, and kinesthetic adult learners.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of learning programs and offers design and development recommendations to instructional designers.
Skills
- Facilitation skills: Effectively deliver training content and respond to questions from groups of associates while managing classroom dynamics.
- Ability to "read the room" and adapt delivery styles to meet the unique needs of different learner groups.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Planning and organizing skills.
- Self-directed with the ability to manage time and prioritize tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with an emphasis in adult learning or an education-related discipline.
- Knowledge of store processes, building materials, blueprint reading, and material takeoffs.
- Experience in training delivery, large group, and virtual facilitation.
- Experience delivering or developing leadership and professional development learning.
- Classroom management experience, including effective management of group process and dynamics.
- Solid understanding of performance management, coaching, and feedback techniques.
- Experience creating evaluation strategies for learning programs.
- Program and project management experience.
Work Environment
- Open office area.
- Full-time position, 45+ hours per week.
- Travel up to 25%.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
