About the role

The Learning & Development Partner (L&D Partner) provides education and coaching to customer-facing sales professionals to reduce the learning curve and help the organization achieve its business goals. Topics include product education, sales skills, clinical knowledge, sales management, and sales effectiveness. The L&D Partner acts as a subject-matter expert for ICU Medical’s IV Solutions, Consumables, and Oncology sales team, supporting educational content development for customer-facing and internal programs, and occasionally provides education expertise to other internal departments.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales excellence by enhancing the knowledge, skills, and competencies of commercial teams, including product knowledge, clinical insights, industry trends, sales skills, territory management, and account planning.
  • Enhance sales management effectiveness by improving leadership and management competencies, such as team development, coaching, business planning, and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to assess education needs, develop tailored programs, and deliver training aligned with market or departmental requirements.
  • Design and deploy blended education solutions, including e-learning, instructor-led training, virtual education, self-study, and on-the-job training.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of education programs through metrics, sales productivity reports, and learner/stakeholder feedback.
  • Develop and deliver education programs for new product launches, aligned with global marketing strategies and regional sales goals.
  • Create onboarding programs following adult learning best practices to reduce ramp-up time for new sales professionals and commercial employees.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert to develop education content for internal and external audiences, collaborating with Instructional Designers and marketing teams while adhering to adult learning principles, branding guidelines, and document control requirements.
  • Conduct knowledge and skill assessments to validate learning objectives and capture course metrics with Education Coordinators.
  • Write post-education reports outlining participant strengths and areas for improvement to support ongoing development and coaching.
  • Identify, develop, and support field sales mentors in partnership with field sales management.
  • Deliver Sales Force Effectiveness and Sales Management Excellence courses, including coaching, leadership, onboarding, and recruiting.
  • Ensure all required logistics, materials, and equipment are available for training sessions.
  • Conduct ride-alongs with sales representatives to coach sales effectiveness and product acumen.
  • Ensure compliance with company operations, laws, regulations, and standards, including environmental, health, and safety initiatives.
  • Educate sales and sales leadership on contracting strategies, including GPOs and local contracts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of infusion therapy/healthcare industry strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of education principles and techniques, including adult learning principles, instructional methodology, train-the-trainer, blended learning, and e-learning.
  • Skill in developing education and coaching programs and curriculum.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to achieve department goals.
  • Self-directed, flexible, and able to prioritize workload to meet deadlines and project goals.
  • Advanced skills in PowerPoint and Word; beginner-level proficiency in Excel.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; BSN preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of sales success.
  • 3+ years of related experience in sales, clinical, and/or sales effectiveness.
  • 3+ years of direct sales experience, preferably in IV solutions, infusion consumables, and closed system transfer devices.
  • 3+ years of experience in sales effectiveness, sales training, or a related field (preferred).
  • 3+ years of clinical experience (strongly preferred).

Schedule

This is largely a sedentary role based in a professional office environment. Routine travel of 20-50% is required.

Location

This role is based remotely; the incumbent may work remotely in any U.S. state except Colorado, California, Connecticut, Montana, Maine, or New York.
