Summary
The Learning & Development (L&D) Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining engaging training content, learning programs, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that support employee performance, engagement, and professional growth. This role partners closely with Learning & Development leadership, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and cross-functional teams to create instructor-led, blended, and eLearning solutions while driving SOP creation, adoption, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Qualifications
- Experience in Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Technical Writing, Training Development, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, SMEs, and business stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

- eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate 360 (Rise & Storyline), Camtasia, Vyond, and similar learning content development platforms
- Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- SharePoint and OneNote
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Canva, Clipchamp, and SnagIt
- AI-powered content development tools and technologies
Essential Job Functions
Day-to-day tasks include, but not limited to the following:
- Design, develop, and update instructor-led, blended learning, and eLearning training materials.
- Partner with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather technical information and translate complex concepts into effective learning experiences.
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), reference documents, forms, and process documentation.
- Develop job aids, visual aids, presentations, videos, and other training resources.
- Coordinate with department leaders, SMEs, and senior stakeholders to gather information, obtain documentation, and ensure project timelines are met.
- Proactively follow up with business partners and stakeholders to collect outstanding content, secure approvals, and drive training and SOP initiatives to completion.
- Schedule and facilitate meetings related to SOP development, review, and approval processes.
- Maintain SOP trackers, SharePoint repositories, and document control processes.
- Identify process improvement opportunities, documentation gaps, and operational efficiencies.
- Support organizational learning initiatives and promote the adoption and utilization of training resources and SOPs.
Working Environment / Physical Demands
This is a stationary position that requires frequent sitting or standing, repetitive wrist motions, grasping, speaking, listening, close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employees in this position must be physically able to efficiently perform the essential functions of the position.
