This role reports to the Supervisor and is based at Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Schedule

Tuesday – Saturday, 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Base pay of $22.39 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Inspect assigned areas for cleanliness and complete a daily quality-control checklist to ensure a 90 % standard is consistently maintained.
  • Inspect all projects and follow up when projects are completed.
  • Ensure all employees follow established processes and procedures to deliver the highest quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Verify that all employees are clocked in on time, at their stations, and working so that all areas are covered.
  • Encourage, guide, and mentor employees’ personal and professional development.
  • Assign tasks and work schedules to employees as needed.
  • Ensure employees comply with Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, Medicare, and city, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Issue written and/or oral instructions, assign duties, and examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Perform and/or assist subordinates in performing required duties.
  • Maintain the Phone Log; handle all requests and complaints with a sense of urgency and file corrective-action reports as prescribed by PCSI’s Corrective Action Process.
  • Assist in providing continual on-the-job training and schedule re-training on new processes and procedures as required.
  • Assist the supervisor in maintaining all supplies required to perform cleaning duties and ensure supplies are available for employees to complete assigned tasks.
  • Conduct end-of-shift inventory of supplies and correct any deficiencies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one year of experience supervised by the Housekeeping Supervisor.
  • One year of any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • May require basic knowledge of PC functions and software, including Windows applications, MS Word, MS Excel, and related applications.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to push objects up to 100 pounds and lift or carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to bend the body downward, squat by bending at the knees, and climb up and down ladders and stairs.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk approximately 90 % of the time during working hours.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand service requests, container labels, product information, and directions on cleaning chemicals and other materials.
  • Working knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of safety practices related to the work.
  • Ability to follow directions, work rules, and procedures; accept constructive criticism; and interact harmoniously with coworkers, hospital staff, and visitors.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
  • Ability to be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors.
  • Subject to hazards associated with working in a health-care environment that may cause personal harm, including diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, common colds, influenza, dust, odors, and elevated noise levels.
  • May be required to work in aseptic areas and be exposed to various chemicals and infectious disease.
  • Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
  • If required, ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access to assigned site(s).
