Job Summary

Provides technical leadership in the safe and efficient performance of vehicle fleet maintenance and ground support equipment at repair facilities. Performs vehicle fleet and ground support equipment repair and maintenance, when necessary. Ensures that work performed by staff of technicians is in accordance with OSHA and DOT standards. Guides and supports a staff of senior technicians, technicians, and trainees. Performs other duties as assigned.

About the Role

Responsible for leading and supporting a team of technicians in maintaining and repairing vehicle fleets and ground support equipment. Ensures compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide a team of technicians in performing vehicle fleet and ground support equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensure all work performed adheres to OSHA and DOT standards.
  • Oversee the training and development of junior technicians.
  • Perform vehicle fleet and ground support equipment repair and maintenance when necessary.
  • Guide and support a staff of senior technicians, technicians, and trainees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently meets all requirements for a Senior Technician plus one (1) year continuous experience as a Senior Technician immediately prior to bidding.
  • Knowledge of the use and operation of all equipment and testing equipment, gauges and tools normally associated with the troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic, gasoline, diesel, electric, and/or hybrid motorized equipment.
  • Proficient skills in operating a personal computer.
  • Demonstration of strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officials and to respond to official inquiries and directions in accordance with FMCSA enforcement guidance.

  • Minimum Education: None.
  • Minimum Experience: Currently meets all requirements for a Senior Technician plus one (1) year continuous experience as a Senior Technician immediately prior to bidding.

Job Conditions

  • Physical Demands: Possession of basic set of automotive hand tools including metric sizes. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and maneuver any weight above 50 pounds with assistance on a regular basis.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work without supervision for extended time periods. Must be able to work in noisy, non air-conditioned/heated work area. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Must be willing to work any shift.
  • Other: Must be able to work in a state of residence. Must meet qualifications as outlined in section 391 of the federal motor carrier safety regulations. Medical exam required. FMCSA-covered safety sensitive position.
