About the role

The Lead VDC Engineer at Hensel Phelps is responsible for managing the information utilized in the building model. This role supports regional VDC training, project VDC execution plans, and model quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Supports regional VDC training
  • Develops, implements, and maintains project VDC execution plans and strategies
  • Manages information dissemination and resolves issues in the model
  • Oversight on model reliability, structure, and content
  • Aids in archiving models from pre-construction to post-construction
  • Aids in project implementation of new software, processes, and technology
  • Creates VDC coordination schedules and drives implementation with project superintendent support
  • Supports project alignment and validation between survey and 3D models, integrating with primary control
  • Assists estimating department in using provided models for quantity survey, visualization, and other communication needs
  • Participates in procurement efforts through model development, proposal, and interview representation
  • Supports book of 14 reporting and all point review reporting
  • Collaborates with QC managers in reviewing project QC audits

Requirements

  • A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or within a team
  • Strong understanding of construction documents
  • Possess technical knowledge of commercial building design and documentation
  • Strong organizational skills and graphic communication skills
  • Computer software proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel-based templates, and Autodesk Suite with a focus on 3D authoring tools and Manage Navisworks
  • A basic understanding of collaboration, 4D, 5D, and 6D tools

Qualifications

  • Passes verification of work authorization and employment eligibility
  • Completes substance abuse screening
  • Passes physical exam (if applicable)
  • Passes background checks for badging/security clearances (if applicable)

Skills

  • Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel-based templates
  • Autodesk Suite with a focus on 3D authoring tools and Manage Navisworks
  • Technical knowledge of commercial building design and documentation
  • Organizational skills and graphic communication skills

Pay

Salary range: $80,000 - $120,000 annually

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
