Lead Toplander

About the role

The Lead Toplander operates various machinery and equipment to manage material flow and conduct safe operations at the collar location. This role also involves preparing rigging equipment, handling explosives, maintaining supplies, and operating surface equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate shaft doors, conveyor belts, and chutes to control material flow
• Sling gear baskets and other equipment
• Prepare steel sets and service pipes
• Inspect and organize rigging equipment
• Handle explosives
• Maintain slings and lifting attachments
• Maintain supply storage such as explosives, drill bits, fire extinguishers, and batteries
• Operate surface equipment like forklifts, loaders, and tuggers
• If required, operate company vehicles and meet eligibility criteria for vehicle use
• Keep work areas safe and free of hazards
• Perform field level risk assessments
• Comply with safety directives, policies, and procedures
• Ensure confidentiality of Redpath and client information
• Comply with Redpath’s policies and procedures
• Work overtime, days, nights, weekends, holidays, and shifts as needed
• Comply with Redpath’s core competencies

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role
• Ability to multitask and work effectively
• Knowledge of the mining industry and applicable mine regulations
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
• Attention to detail, neatness, and accuracy
• Ability to pass background checks, drug screenings, and physical exams
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Skills

• Ability to safely use and handle a variety of tools, equipment, and materials
