About the role

The Goddard School in Chicago (South Loop), IL is hiring motivated self-starters for multiple Daycare Teacher positions at our new preschool, serving children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Our state-of-the-art facility is located in the South Loop neighborhood of downtown Chicago, just blocks from CTA and Metra Electric.

A Lead Toddler Teacher is responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment while working collaboratively with another teacher and the entire faculty.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment
• Develop an appropriate classroom management system to support the goals and developmental level of the children
• Ensure children are always within state ratio requirements
• Perform cleaning responsibilities (e.g., spills) immediately
• Advance children’s physical and intellectual competence
• Adapt program to meet the individual needs of each child
• Create a multicultural learning environment
• Provide a variety of developmentally appropriate activities to engage children in learning
• Respect cultural and ethnic diversity
• Communicate professionally with families and faculty
• Encourage families to become an integral part of their children’s learning experiences
• Maintain a portfolio for each child
• Maintain the classroom Parent Board
• Perform child observations and document in portfolios using assessment tools (e.g., Progress Reports, Children’s Progress)
• Attend faculty meetings, in-service days, conferences, and professional growth opportunities

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Elementary Education, Child Development, or a related field
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Elementary Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred
• Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification
