What You'll Do

  • Be a part of a consistent Team
  • Staffing — Classrooms are staffed with 3 teachers at all times, supporting collaborative planning and shared responsibility for children's care and education.
  • Lead a toddler classroom by creating engaging, play-based learning experiences that support language, literacy, social-emotional development, and early STEAM learning.
  • Build warm, responsive relationships with children and families.
  • Supervise and support classroom team members while modeling positive teaching practices.
  • Partner with families through daily communication, conferences, workshops, and family events.
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Observe and document children's growth and development.
  • Collaborate with teaching team members to implement ELLI's curriculum and approach.
  • Support classroom routines including meals, diapering, toileting, transitions, and outdoor play.
  • Ensure compliance with NAEYC standards and Connecticut licensing regulations.

Requirements

  • Required: Associate's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education OR Bachelor's Degree in a related field with at least 12 credits in Child Development or Early Childhood Education identified by OEC
  • Minimum one (1) year of professional childcare or classroom experience
  • PREFERRED: Experience leading or mentoring classroom staff, Knowledge of Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS), Experience working with toddlers in a group setting, Strong communication and family engagement skills, Bilingual Spanish/English
