About the role
Warwick Day Care Center, Inc. is seeking a Lead Toddler Teacher to serve infants/toddlers (0–2) in Warwick, NY. The ideal candidate must hold an active Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on NYS Early Learning Guidelines and a constructivist approach.
- Lead a team of assistant teachers, fostering a collaborative classroom environment and ensuring compliance with all program standards and best practices.
- Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom that supports cognitive, social-emotional, and physical growth.
- Communicate regularly with parents through daily updates, conferences, and discussions about their child’s progress.
- Ensure compliance with NYS OCFS licensing regulations, center policies, and health and safety standards.
- Observe, document, and assess each child’s development to inform individualized learning plans and communicate progress effectively.
- Manage classroom operations, including daily routines, transitions, and material organization.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and center-wide events to contribute to continuous program improvement.
Requirements
- Minimum Education & Experience: CDA credential, Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, or 9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field with a plan of study leading to an Infant/Toddler CDA or an Associate's Degree.
- At least 2 years of verifiable experience working directly with children in a licensed childcare setting, specifically with toddlers (ages 18-36 months).
- State Requirements (New York): Must be at least 18 years old, complete a NYS OCFS background check, including fingerprinting, Statewide Central Register (SCR) clearance, and a check of the Staff Exclusion List (SEL), and provide evidence of a recent physical examination and TB test clearance upon hire.
- Nice to Have: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, Medication Administration Training Certification (MAT), demonstrated leadership skills, familiarity with recognized Childcare curriculum frameworks, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
