Lead Technician - Transit Operations
Transdev in Abingdon, MD is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Technician to supervise and coordinate the activities of our bus yard technician team, ensuring timely and efficient diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of diesel and gas transit vehicles and equipment.

The Lead Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our fleet by overseeing a team of technicians and performing advanced diagnostics and repairs.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and prioritize the workload of the bus yard team, assigning tasks and ensuring all work is completed in a timely manner.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues in vehicles.
- Manage inventory levels of parts and supplies, ensuring adequate stock to support maintenance and repair activities while minimizing waste and excess inventory.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, and other components, adhering to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Coach and monitor members of the work team.
- Maintain open communication and good relations with customers.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience, with demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and repairing engines and related systems.
- ASE Certified preferred.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
Physical Requirements
The essential functions of this position require the ability to:
- Push and pull objects, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
- Occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to access files or equipment stored at ground level.
- Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing duties; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
