Role Summary
The combined role of Lead Technician is pivotal in managing hospital accounts, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and overseeing day-to-day operations at one hospital location. This role involves supervising a team of two or less Technicians alongside the SPD Manager, managing performance, scheduling, and compliance, while serving as an integral member of the operating room team. The position reports to the SPD Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards for decontamination, inspection, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of surgical instruments.
- Manage laparoscopic equipment, including performing routine maintenance and coordinating repairs for instruments and scopes.
- Oversee endoscopy services to ensure proper equipment use, inventory, and adherence to cleaning and disinfection protocols.
- Ensure Endoscopy is prepared per procedure requirements and that technicians follow manufacturer guidelines for scope reprocessing.
- Monitor compliance and support quality assurance.
- Deliver consistent, high-quality service while maintaining professional relationships with customer staff.
- Ensure punctuality and flexibility, including availability for on-call and rotational shifts (weekdays, weekends, and holidays).
- Learn and effectively use all technologies as outlined in the company’s Technology Policy.
- Perform daily operations within the Surgical Cost Management Platform (SCMP), including entering case data, assigning tasks, and validating accuracy.
- Manage site-specific data revisions and ensure team adoption of digital tools.
- If applicable, utilize company phone and/or laptop to login to company systems as required, including but not limited to ADP, Outlook, Concur, Slack, and SCMP.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and manage a team of Surgical Solutions Technicians, alongside the SPD Manager, ensuring high-quality performance and adherence to company values.
- Aid in conducting interviews, completing performance evaluations, and administering disciplinary actions as needed.
- Aid in scheduling shifts, managing timekeeping, and monitoring overtime to optimize efficiency.
- Foster a team environment built on dignity, respect, and integrity.
Administration & Operations
- Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned hospitals, meeting as needed with customer directors and key staff to resolve issues and improve services.
- Maintain organized personnel files, credentials, and compliance with state and facility requirements.
- Promote certification and training opportunities for team members.
- Assist in the ordering of supplies, managing inventory, and ensuring accurate billing and reporting.
Other Responsibilities
- Perform all other duties as assigned by managers to support the efficient operation of the team and hospital.
- Management and responsibility of company property as assigned.
- Loss or damage of company property may result in repayment fees.

- Reliability and consistent on-site attendance.
- Able to work Sunday-Saturday, which includes 24/7 coverage on a rotational basis during weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Work effectively under high-stress conditions, making critical decisions in emergencies.

- Strong professional communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with customers, hospital staff, and team members.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and familiarity with ERP systems.
- Commitment to high standards of customer service and technical expertise.
Physical Demands
- Ability to perform tasks involving bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, and maneuvering heavy equipment.
- Stand for prolonged periods and lift/carry items up to 50 pounds individually or more with assistance.
- Meet vision and hearing standards, including color recognition, necessary for job functions.
- Wear personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, gowns, eye protection) as required.
