About the Role

As a Project Lead (Lead Technician), you will manage all phases of data center installation projects, ensuring successful completion and customer satisfaction through leadership, technical expertise, and strategic thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Safe Work Practices conforming to the Company’s Safety Program and client worksite policies to ensure team safety.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of daily JSA and JHA processes, LOTO (where required), stop work authority, and reporting in support of company best practices.
  • Install and decommission critical cabling and network infrastructure in a Data Center environment.
  • Maintain a high level of Safety and Quality in all work performed.
  • Adhere to all Safety, Quality, and Production standards, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Plan, assign, and perform daily work activity layout for Structured Cabling System installations in conjunction with the field supervisor.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on complex Structured Cabling Systems and Network Connectivity for Data Center and Mission-Critical Infrastructure.
  • Ensure project work conforms to design drawings, plans, specifications, manufacturer recommendations, and installation standards.
  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of Structured Cabling System installation and commissioning.
  • Maintain work area organization, good housekeeping, and promptly address hazardous conditions.
  • Organize materials, tools, and equipment, collect debris, and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Teach and mentor less experienced Infrastructure Technicians.
  • Maintain compliance with customer Safety, Quality, Security, and Site Access policies.

  • Willingness to work days, nights, and weekends as required.
  • Self-motivated with strong integrity and work ethic.
  • Reliable daily transportation.
  • Proficiency with computers or handheld tablets.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of verifiable experience in the Structured Cabling or Telecommunications Industry.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred – must obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • First Aid and CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Fiber Optic Association certifications preferred.
  • BICSI Technical certifications preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have direct reports.

Work Location and Travel

This is an on-site position with approximately 50% overnight travel expected. You should be able and willing to travel as required.

Career Progression

This position supports growth into a field supervisory role.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor work.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands, stoop, kneel, reach, and communicate effectively.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, lift, and/or move up to 50 pounds (regularly up to 25 pounds).
  • May be required to work from heights and in tight, confined spaces.
