Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of Data Center installation projects.
- Assume total ownership from receipt of completed engineering “work package” to project completion and final documentation.
- Oversee job layout and plan of execution, ensuring compliance with scope of work.
- Run small, medium, and large projects as required.
- Direct a team in assembling, installing, and securing cable trays, racks, and cabinets in telecommunications closets.
- Ensure proper grounding and bonding of cable trays, racks, and other infrastructure per BICSI standards.
- Install and terminate copper and fiber products in accordance with TIA/EIA and BICSI standards.
- Test and troubleshoot copper and fiber cable plant systems, interpreting results and repairing issues to ensure valid tests.
- Operate and manage test equipment (Cat5, Cat5E, Cat6 testers, fiber power meters, OTDRs), including saving, downloading, and storing test results.
- Maintain meticulous documentation and ensure all project paperwork is accurately completed.
- Stay current with the latest technologies and installation procedures.
- Demonstrate leadership, customer orientation, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Travel as required and maintain a flexible work schedule.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, climb ladders, stand for long periods, and work in physically demanding environments.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a company vehicle throughout the day.
- Background check and drug screening required upon offer acceptance.
- Knowledge of fiber terms and troubleshooting.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starting, independent worker with a team-oriented mindset.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- BICSI Technician certification or other industry manufacturer certifications.
- OSHA30 safety certification.
- HILTI powder actuated tools certification.
