Lead Technical Analyst - Tax

About the role
The Lead Technical Analyst - Tax drives innovation in tax-related processes and technology, integrating solutions within the tax area to align tax systems with business processes. This role leads support for software-as-a-service (SaaS) and enterprise-wide applications, ensuring efficient operation with minimal downtime. The incumbent manages configuration, setup, and updates to applications, validates data accuracy, develops custom queries and reports, and provides strategic advice to optimize performance and mitigate risk. Additionally, this role leads and mentors a team responsible for training users and setting up access, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and client stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead the support for software-as-a-service (SaaS) and enterprise-wide applications by providing guidance on design considerations and business impacts for configuration.
- Drive quality of data for internal department planning and activities.
- Lead configuration, setup, and updating of applications; provide guidance as needed.
- Manage the data loading process into established tables, fields, and system databases.
- Review and approve governance standards and processes for data input, structures, and storage mechanisms.
- Lead the team in building reports and provide strategic insights and recommendations for business management decisions.
- Mentor the team responsible for training users on applications and setting up user access.
- Provide strategic recommendations for changes in applications development, maintenance, and system standards.
- Establish and share an enterprise-wide applications perspective when collaborating with cross-functional technical teams to ensure integration and interoperability.
- Lead and liaise with client stakeholders and external vendors to ensure support for enterprise-wide applications.
- Deliver tax implementations integrating with Oracle and boundary systems, compliance tax reporting, and eInvoicing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology. In lieu of a degree, at least 9 years of experience in enterprise-wide software support.
- 6+ years of experience in enterprise-wide software support with in-depth knowledge of software development methodologies.
- Extensive knowledge of enterprise-wide applications and software platforms.
- Experience managing software-as-a-service (SaaS) and enterprise-wide systems.
- Expertise in configuring and setting up various enterprise-wide applications.
- Experience applying security designs and principles to technology-based business solutions.
- Ability to lead teams and oversee database management and maintenance.
- Ability to develop and review complex custom queries using query and reporting tools.
- Extensive knowledge of data management best practices and quality control processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Computer Science, or related field, and 7 years’ experience implementing tax technologies.
- Certifications in ITIL, Microsoft, and/or Oracle, ONESOURCE.
- Experience implementing large, multidisciplinary projects with ERP systems co-integrated with vendor solution indirect tax systems (ideally, ONESOURCE, Corptax, Vertex, Avalara, Longview, MasterSAF, Tax One).
- International Indirect Tax vendor SaaS implementations and configurations.
- Broad understanding of tax accounting and major tax processes.
- Experience transforming operational elements to deliver evolving technologies in batch and real-time.
- Audit Compliance and data content services platform management to optimize digital tax document storage.
- Skilled in writing Lean Specifications and deploying Oracle Cloud (RAPID) configurations.
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) experience with Oracle.
- Experience with emerging tax processes in a digital environment, including SaaS, PaaS, Cloud technologies, and API services.
- Interest in Cloud technologies, solutioning, and data management.
- Excellent business writing skills and a natural ability to resolve problems quickly and accurately.
- Ability to efficiently collect and record business requirements.
- Strong time management skills and a desire to lead a team.
- Knowledge of key foundation technologies supporting RPA (Robotic Process Automation) and AI (Artificial Intelligence).
