Lead Teacher (K - 6th Grade)

Manhattan Charter School is a high‑performing charter school located on the Lower East Side in New York City. Founded in 2005 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the school’s vision is to close opportunity, imagination, and achievement gaps for high‑need students by empowering, inspiring, and equipping them to fulfill their potential. Responsibilities

• Execute the mission of MCS, fostering high academic achievement, integration of core learning disciplines, critical‑thinking, and ethical standards.
• Believe every child can achieve high academic standards and provide consistent support regardless of challenges.
• Reflect on personal and instructional practices to meet academic goals.
• Plan student learning and individual achievements based on long‑ and short‑term goals and program objectives.
• Select and use effective instructional methods and learning materials.
• Establish cooperative relationships with all assigned students.
• Manage the classroom positively and keep students on task.
• Attend, participate in, and facilitate team meetings, professional development, and common planning times.
• Communicate and collaborate with peers, sharing student work, methodologies, strategies, and coordinating lesson topics to create a coherent curricular design.
• Prepare, administer, and review all required student assessments.
• Meet regular and predictable attendance requirements.
• Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the Principal.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education (required).
• Minimum of two years teaching in an urban public school or charter school setting.
• Proven track record of high achievement in the classroom and commitment to accountability.
• Alignment with Manhattan Charter School’s core beliefs and educational philosophy.
• Valid New York State certification is helpful but not required.

Compensation

Salary range: $60,000 – $80,000 per year (equivalent to $30.00 – $36.00 per hour).
