Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for the direction and supervision of a group of children & performs activities that ensure the safety, involvement, and creativity of each child
- Develop an age-appropriate program using the school curriculum along with the curriculum tool
- Employ a variety of educational techniques (lesson plans, storytelling, educational play, etc.) to teach children
- Assess children’s progress and report to parents
- Interactions expressive of genuine warmth and concern for children, as well as an understanding of their developmental needs
- Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
- Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve conflicts
- Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
- Communicate with parents regularly
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff
- Able to accept changes in schedules & classrooms
- Attend staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions
- Must have the ability to lift a child and lower yourself to the ground and stand without assistance.
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety sanitation standards
- Know and follow current Department of Human Services (DHS) policies, procedures, and regulations
Qualifications
Required Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, or a bachelor’s degree with 30 credit hours in the above fields.
- Or
- An associate degree in early childhood education, development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, and 2 years of experience with children, or an Associate Degree with 30 credit hours in the fields above, with 3 years of experience with children.

- 1-3 years Preferred
