Lead Tact Ops Manager
About the Role
Work cross-functionally with Purchasing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Containerization, Logistics, and GM assembly/manufacturing plants to facilitate critical supply issues and business transfers. This group addresses short-term capacity issues caused by broken tools or equipment, fires, floods, and other supplier shortage issues.
Responsibilities
- Support/Lead team on complex cases leading to timely closure
- Support/Lead team on timely execution and implementation of Proactive/predictive projects
- Support/Lead conference calls with business transfers and critical supply issues
- Function as liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and suppliers to resolve issues and provide technical support
- Determine the cause of supplier delivery problems and coordinate/implement effective and timely resolutions
- Assess and assist in the development and implementation of corrective actions for critical issues
- Improve delivery performance of suppliers by identifying process improvements and lead time reduction opportunities
- May participate as a member or resource to product development teams
- Regularly exchange information with others inside and outside the work group, including GM and supplier facilities
- Work with Supplier Risk Management team on Financially Troubled Suppliers
- Lead and support Proactive and Predictive strategy vision and engage in related projects
- Understand and implement standardized work practices
- Keep management updated frequently, consistent with the urgency of issues
- Provide Executive Reports as required
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant post-graduate work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, manufacturing, logistics, or product development
- Must be able to travel spontaneously 75% domestically/internationally at suppliers
- Must have a valid passport
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in Automotive Manufacturing Operations (preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in die casting or machining operations (preferred)
- Excellent communication and command skills
- Broad understanding of manufacturing processes, including material handling, inventory management, OEE, capacity, and throughput
- Demonstrated analytical ability, communication, and interpersonal skills to build relationships with team members and suppliers
- Ability to manage multiple and significantly complex cases with a high level of autonomy and accountability
- Ability to prepare and present information to various levels and audiences

Schedule
This role is categorized as hybrid. The selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week (or other frequency dictated by their manager) and will be required to travel at least 50% or more on a frequent basis.
