Responsibilities
- Monitor, direct and oversee the activities of assigned Surgical Technologists in the OR.
- Perform duties of a Surgical Technologist as needed.
- Provide patient care in the OR by performing in a scrub role.
- Assist in the circulating role as needed.
- Collaborate with SPD to maintain instruments and specialty trays.
- Provide performance documentation.
- Assume department leadership in the absence of the supervisor.
- Review surgical schedules and service line shift reports daily to ensure resources are available for surgical procedures.
- Seek ways to eliminate errors, reduce turnaround time, maintain workflow and improve service.
- Perform and oversee precepting.
Requirements
- Minimum qualifications: High School Diploma/GED, Certified Surgical Technologist, Completion of a surgical technology program accredited through the CAAHEP or ABHES, or completion of a military surgical technology program, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
- Experience: Two years of experience in a surgical technologist role for external caregivers, one year of experience in a Surgical Technologist role for internal caregivers.
- Physical Requirements: Requires a full range of body motion including ability to lift and/or bear the weight of 100 pounds with assistance, or more while pulling, lifting, pushing and transferring patients to and from various apparatus; regularly pushes moderate to heavy weight of 100 pounds or more. Exposure to body fluids. Must be available for flexible scheduling according to the needs of the surgical area. Floating may be expected per assignment policies within the surgical support department.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Certified Surgical Technologist
