Lead Supplier Development Engineer

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise to increase the capability of high-risk, critical, and strategic suppliers.
  • Complete technical analytical assessments and reports to identify supplier quality and performance issues.
  • Evaluate manufacturing producibility onsite at critical suppliers and drive improvements.
  • Create and manage Supplier Development Plans to achieve expected performance improvements.
  • Work closely with strategic sourcing, procurement, and engineering teams.
  • Support the development and implementation of informational processes and communication channels.
  • Complete technical supplier assessments, identify actions, and develop plans to improve suppliers' manufacturing capability.
  • Develop and manage supplier capacity analysis and tools.
  • Deploy risk mitigation plans and be accountable for decreasing supplier risk.
  • Facilitate and champion continuous improvement events and initiatives.
  • Review engineering designs for producibility and design to cost changes.
  • Advise stakeholders on new product introduction designs and facilitate producibility and design to cost improvements.
  • Investigate problem jobs and implement solutions to improve product quality.
  • Conduct presentations to internal and external supplier senior business unit leadership.
  • Act as an informal lead and mentor less-experienced team members.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business, or quality discipline.
  • 7+ years of related field operations/Supply Chain experience on manufacturing products, controls, and systems.
  • Leverage Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
