Lead Superintendent
We are a well-established, well-capitalized construction management firm with a strong Southeast presence seeking a Lead Superintendent to help deliver a $70M ground-up student housing project adjacent to the University of South Carolina.
This new development consists of five stories of wood framing over a three-level concrete podium and structured parking garage, with construction starting in June. The selected superintendent may join immediately to help close out an active multifamily project in Columbia and play a key role in preconstruction planning for the upcoming build.
This is a high-visibility role offering long-term project continuity, real authority in the field, and the opportunity to work with a collaborative and experienced operations team.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the on-site lead for all construction activities from preconstruction through turnover
- Participate in preconstruction planning, constructability reviews, scheduling, and logistics planning
- Lead and coordinate all field operations including trade partners, vendors, and inspectors
- Maintain alignment with the project schedule, budget, and quality standards
- Enforce a zero-incident safety culture and lead daily site safety efforts
- Act as the primary point of contact between project management and field personnel
- Oversee concrete, podium, wood framing, MEP coordination, facade, and interior scopes
- Drive schedule recovery strategies and proactively identify and resolve field challenges
- Mentor assistant superintendents and field staff
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent on multifamily or student housing projects
- Proven success leading mid-rise wood over podium construction, $40M+ preferred
- Strong knowledge of concrete, structural framing, MEP coordination, and life safety systems
- Experience participating in preconstruction and early design phases
- Ability to run large, fast-paced jobs with multiple trade partners
- Strong communication skills and a steady, team-oriented leadership style
- Comfort using scheduling and field technology platforms such as Procore and BIM coordination tools
- Currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa
