Lead Structural Engineer, Food and Beverage Gainesville, GA Compensation: $120,000 to $180,000 per year A national construction engineering firm is hiring a Lead Structural Engineer to join its Food and Beverage dedicated team. This role leads the development of structural engineering solutions from early concepts through construction, collaborating closely with operations, preconstruction, architectural and other engineering disciplines to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective and aligned with project schedules. The position provides structural engineering leadership throughout the full project lifecycle, from design and construction through facility operations, and operates within the firm's Structural Engineering Department while exclusively serving the Food and Beverage Division. Schedule Full time, primarily office-based with periodic construction site visits. Some non-traditional hours required to meet project needs, along with occasional short-duration travel (2 to 5 days). Compensation $120,000 to $180,000 per year. What You'll Do This role serves as Engineer of Record for in-house structural design services, providing structural engineering evaluations and designs for the repair and remediation of emergency conditions, along with construction document production (drawings and specifications) and marketing material for project pursuits. The Lead Structural Engineer delivers required documentation for construction document milestones, establishes drafting templates and libraries for design workflows, and supports 5D and model-based estimating collaboration with Preconstruction. The role covers design of varying structural systems, including concrete, masonry, wood and steel, across building typologies such as industrial, educational, storage, office and residential, and requires current knowledge of construction methodologies and applicable building codes, along with experience in construction means and methods and the application of technology across a range of project sizes and complexity. On the preconstruction side, this position supports design-build project pursuits, including development of project scope, preparation of proposal deliverables and participation in client presentations and interviews. Working alongside the construction Operations Team Lead, the Lead Structural Engineer coordinates with Preconstruction and Design to establish appropriate budgets and ensure design and preconstruction meetings are conducted as required, and works with Preconstruction to analyze alternative design options. The role also oversees project design by coordinating closely with architectural, MEP, refrigeration and process engineering disciplines to develop integrated building solutions, collaborating with construction, estimating and engineering teams to ensure design solutions are practical, buildable and aligned with project budgets. Additional responsibilities include reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, supporting the team during construction administration, mentoring junior engineers and designers, and contributing to continuous improvement of design standards, workflows and technical practices.
