Lead Structural Designer

What to Expect

The Lead Structural Designer will join an EPC organization focused on factory and refinery infrastructure projects across North America. This role involves designing and constructing both new projects and renovations to existing facilities, integrating structural systems with manufacturing and refining processes.

What You’ll Do

• Support the design and construction of new projects and renovations to existing industrial, manufacturing, and office facilities at multiple Tesla Facilities
• Manage high-quality BIM (Revit) models, develop 3D engineering designs in Revit, and prepare plan drawings, section/elevations, installation details, and schedules for permit and construction under the supervision of Lead Designer/Engineer
• Cook up structural modeling with multidisciplinary project teams including Mechanical, Electrical, Piping/Plumbing (MEP) professionals
• Utilize and improve structural design standards by working with the BIM/CAD support team to achieve consistent results and incorporate new design into the existing facility models
• Aid in gathering information for RFI's
• Aid in developing material take-offs
• Aid in laying out structural engineering solutions developed by Lead Engineer and Lead Designer in preparation for 30%, 60%, and 90% model reviews

What You’ll Bring

• ITE drafting certification or equivalent experience
• Minimum 4 years of civil/structural drafting for building or industrial projects, or equivalent
• Expert knowledge of Revit Structural and proficiency with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite
• Works effectively under the direction of the Lead Engineer/Designer with minimal supervision, prioritizes and clearly communicates tasks, and demonstrates flexibility to work overtime when necessary to meet project deadlines
• Self-directed, highly motivated self-starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills
