About the role

This job is responsible to ensure that all surgical supplies, instruments and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, and traced in a quality/timely manner throughout the hospital. Works independently with little supervision. Supervises others to ensure all tasks within Instrument Processing are completed to meet customer expectations. Qualified to train others. Serves as a resource to other Sterile Processing employees and customers. Interacts and problem solves extensively with the Operating Room personnel. This position serves as a Vendor Lead.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures proper inventory, decontamination, assembly, inspection, packaging, sterilization, and tracing of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Works independently with little supervision, supervising others to meet customer expectations.
  • Serves as a resource to other Sterile Processing employees and customers.
  • Interacts and problem-solves extensively with the Operating Room personnel.
  • Serves as a Vendor Lead.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED and three years instrumentation experience in a hospital setting
  • Certified Central Service Technician certification
  • One to two years work experience in Central Sterile Processing
  • Six months to one year in a lead/supervisory capacity
  • Successful completion of a vocational program for Central Service preferred
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Knowledge of computerized instrument tracking system(s) preferred
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal and written communications skills (English)
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Able to work standing

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
