About the role
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Specialty Software Engineer to work on our check modernization initiative. In this role, you will modernize, consolidate, and replatform the check processing applications to streamline technology and deliver continuous improvements in areas including image capture, check clearing and settlements, exceptions/corrections and image archive. Internalize 3rd party image software using Cloud platforms, Object Store, Workflow engine, Data stream and APIs.
Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups. Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking.
Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions. Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions.
Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommend innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization. Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership.
Telecommuting is permitted up to 2 days a week. Position must appear in person to the location listed as the work address.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related technical field plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or a related position involving Specialty Software Engineering
- 5 years of application development and implementation experience
- 5 years of Java/J2EE Web Application Development, Spring core, Web Services (REST, SOAP, etc.), microservices development
- Experience with check processing payments landscape
- Hands-on experience delivering high-value projects in Agile (SCRUM) methodology, preferably using JIRA
- Experience with Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
- Experience with Object Store technologies (e.g., Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage)
- Experience with Workflow engines (e.g., Camunda, Apache Airflow)
- Experience with Data streaming technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis)
Pay
Salary: $159,000 - $254,000. Pay range reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
