About the role
Pearce is a leading technology-enabled provider of asset management solutions for mission-critical electromechanical infrastructure throughout North America. As a Lead Solar Field Service Technician (Utility-Scale / PV Repair), you'll work on large, utility-scale solar farms—not residential or rooftop systems. You'll handle troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of ground-mount solar systems, central/string inverters, and power plant equipment, while leading a small field crew (4+ techs).
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair utility-scale solar systems, including inverters, combiner boxes, and string circuits
- Perform testing: LOTO, IV curve tracing, megger/insulation testing, IR scans
- Lead and direct 2+ field technicians on active solar farm sites
- Assign work, track progress, and keep jobs on schedule
- Perform operations and maintenance (O&M) on utility-scale solar plants
- Inspect completed work and ensure it meets quality and safety standards
- Enforce safety requirements (OSHA, NFPA 70E) on-site
- Diagnose system issues and resolve them in the field
- Complete work orders, service logs, and required documentation
- Operate and maintain company vehicle and tools
- Train and support junior technicians in the field
Requirements
- 3+ years of utility-scale solar experience (solar farms / ground-mount systems)
- Experience leading crews or acting as lead tech on-site
- Experience working on megawatt-scale PV systems (NOT residential rooftop solar)
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair skills (inverters, DC systems, power electronics)
- Experience with solar O&M / maintenance work
- Working knowledge of OSHA / NFPA 70E safety standards
- Experience using multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and testing equipment
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
Qualifications
- Lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs
- 100% travel role (frequent travel to solar farm sites)
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, dust)
- Must follow all OSHA and company safety requirements
Skills

Pay
Base Pay Range: $28 - $40 USD
