Lead Software Engineer
About the role
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for the Infrastructure Automation and DevSecOps group within the Infrastructure Engineering and Architecture (IEA) team. This individual contributor role focuses on developing applications and services to power the future of software-defined infrastructure provisioning and configuration management. The team's products enable Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and associated infrastructure APIs, supporting the technology fulfillment and operational excellence of Wells Fargo's digital products and services globally.
Responsibilities
- Participate in complex technology initiatives with broad, companywide impact.
- Develop standards and best practices for engineering large-scale technology solutions.
- Design, code, test, debug, and document projects and programs.
- Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for business objectives.
- Make decisions on engineering and technology solutions, influencing industry best practices and new technologies.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain a new cloud management platform.
- Establish standards and patterns to grow Golang software development.
- Create applications and services that promote efficiency and cost savings.
- Integrate with cloud service providers such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
- Collaborate with and influence other software engineers on modern development practices and code quality.
- Drive the completion of software engineering epics, stories, and tasks for cloud portfolio business needs.
- Create documentation to support high-value systems and applications globally.
- Lead code reviews and mentor junior engineers on the team.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- 5+ years of Software Development experience with architecting, designing, and developing frontend and backend applications using modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, JavaScript).
- 4+ years of experience developing stateful software using traditional relational or non-relational databases.
- 6+ months of experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and/or agentic workflows in generative AI application development.
- 4+ years of experience working in an agile environment.
Qualifications
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other business and functional areas.
- Knowledge of application and web security.
- Understanding of technology performance analysis, automated testing, and tuning for applications.
- Knowledge of major Cloud Services Providers (CSPs) such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including their primary web service offerings and code-deploy frameworks like Amazon CDK.
- Golang software development experience.
- Temporal.io development experience with transaction, function, workflow, and durability functionality.
Job Expectations
- Ability to work additional hours as needed.
- Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.

Pay
$119,000.00 - $224,000.00 base pay range. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
