Lead Software Engineer
General Description
The Lead Software Engineer is a technical leader responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performance data processing solutions. This role works across modern .NET, React, Azure, and SQL Server platforms, contributing architectural guidance, mentoring other engineers, and driving engineering best practices. You’ll balance hands-on development with technical decision-making while promoting the core values of caring, expertise and service.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end solutions using ASP.NET Core, React, Azure services, and SQL Server
- Translate complex business and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable architectures
- Provide technical direction on application structure, API design, data modeling, and cloud architecture
- Build and maintain advanced client-side experiences using React, TypeScript, Hooks and state management patterns
- Design and implement RESTful and GraphQL APIs using ASP.NET Core, C#, and Entity Framework Core
- Architect and deliver cloud-native Azure solutions (App Services, Functions, Asure SQL, Storage, Key Vault, CI/CD pipelines)
- Optimize and maintain SQL server and Azure SQL databases, including query tuning, indexing strategies, and data access patterns
- Establish and enforce quality standards through code reviews, testing strategies, and CI/CD automation
- Champion the team's adoption of AI-assisted development practices, including code generation, automated testing, and intelligent tooling, while establishing guardrails around quality, security, and responsible use
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through pairing, design reviews, and technical guidance
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, provide accurate estimates, identify risks, and proactively communicate progress and blockers
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies, frameworks, and best practices to improve system reliability and developer productivity
- Support production systems by helping diagnose and resolve complex issues when needed
- Help to create an environment of high morale, motivation and teamwork
Minimum Skills, Knowledge & Talents
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5-8+ years of professional software development experience, with strong depth in C# and modern.NET (.NET Core/6+)
- Proven experience building and maintaining React + TypeScript applications at scale
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure, including application hosting, serverless workloads, security, and CI/CD pipelines
- Advanced SQL Server or Azure SQL skills, including schema design, performance tuning, and production troubleshooting
- Solid understanding of software architecture patters, API design, and distributed systems concepts
- Experience with Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks
- Ability to balance technical excellence with pragmatic delivery in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and business teams
- Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Nice-to- (Optional)
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code in a professional or project setting
- Familiarity with prompt engineering, LLM orchestration, or agentic workflow design
