Lead Slitter Operator (Nights: 8:00p - 8:00a)
Winpak Films is seeking a High-Speed Slitter Lead to join our Production team in Senoia, GA on a rotating night shift schedule (8pm-8am). Reporting to the Slitting Supervisor, this role provides hands-on leadership to the slitting team while supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support operators, apprentices, and material handlers on the assigned shift, providing direction and assistance to ensure production goals are achieved.
- Set up and operate high-speed slitting equipment while minimizing scrap, downtime, and production interruptions.
- Monitor production processes and finished products to identify quality issues, defects, splice-outs, and equipment concerns.
- Troubleshoot slitting and winding issues and communicate maintenance or equipment concerns to the appropriate team members.
- Coordinate raw material, packaging, and core requirements to support current and upcoming production needs.
- Complete required production reports, quality measurements, and documentation accurately and ensure materials are properly palletized, packaged, and returned to stock when appropriate.
- Promote safe work practices and ensure team members follow company safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements.
- Train and support team members on equipment operation, production processes, quality requirements, and safe work practices.
- Prepare equipment, materials, and the work area for the incoming shift to support a smooth transition.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment while collaborating with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and other departments as needed.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in high-speed slitting, extrusion, or a related converting manufacturing environment.
- Experience setting up and operating industrial slitting equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting slitting and winding processes.
- Ability to use measurement equipment and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to identify product quality defects and follow established quality requirements.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use production systems and software.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, production documentation, and safety procedures.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment and consistently follow safety requirements.
- Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading or training employees in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience in a converting or blown-film manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with production systems such as Movex, Rubex, E-File, One-Factory, MES, or WinConnect.
- Experience coordinating production activities and preparing for shift changes.
Additional Details
This position is full-time and operates on 12-hour night shifts (8:00pm-8:00am) at our Senoia, GA facility. The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and movement of materials. Assistance from a co-worker may be required when maneuvering heavier materials. The position also requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, stair climbing, reaching, and squatting.
Pay
$22-$24/hour. The compensation range provided is a general guideline only. Pay will be determined based on the candidate's experience and expertise.
