This is a long-term contract role with the largest public energy provider in the U.S., located in Cumberland City, TN. Hourly rate up to $54.56/HR with time and a half for overtime. Expected duration: 1 year (08/24/26 – 08/30/27). Onsite work only.
Responsibilities
- Plan and direct plant operations of all units, ensuring shift activities comply with TVA policies, programs, procedures, plant Technical Specifications, and Federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct safe and reliable operation of units, prioritizing the safety and welfare of plant staff and the public.
- Manage and prioritize day-to-day activities of Shift Operations, providing functional supervision and setting priorities for other groups to meet plant operating objectives.
- Act as Site Emergency Director during emergency plan activation, ensuring proper notification of emergency response personnel, Federal authorities, and making protective action recommendations to state and local authorities.
- Ensure manning requirements are met to support Emergency Response.
- Serve as the senior operations manager in the absence of the Operations Manager, accountable for quality and operations performance.
- Resolve conflicts and adjust priorities to support safe and efficient plant operations.
- Conduct briefings for plant organizations and direct operating shift turnover to ensure continuity of operating priorities, objectives, and operations.
- Oversee training, technical and soft skills development, and maintenance of qualifications for all subordinates.
- Maintain professional control, demeanor, and appearance compatible with conducting business and safe plant operation.
- Handle disciplinary action, performance evaluations, and other human resource activities for directly assigned operations employees.
- Perform additional duties such as unit manager, outage specialist, procedures, and training.
- Conduct critical management observations focusing on sensitive work activities and reinforce desired worker behaviors.
- Promote teamwork and an operational focus on continuous improvement using TVA Values and Leadership Principles.
- Maintain adherence to Conduct of Operation Procedures.
- Establish performance directives and direct process improvements, including:
- Incorporating best work management practices.
- Directing team members in conflict resolution.
- Directing self-assessments of processes.
- Addressing common site and fleet barriers.
- Championing human performance tools and their use.
- Actively supporting and using corrective action tools.
- Complete required training and maintain up-to-date safety and regulatory training.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent education, training, and experience.
- Five (5) years of experience in power plant operations (coal power) with two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
- S4 medical clearance, completion of Entry Qualification Requirements, and Clearance Qualified status.
- Unit operator experience.
- Responsible Employee status as defined by Power Operations Conduct.
- Protective Tagging Procedure and Switchyard training.
- May be required to work assigned shift schedule.
- May be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position/access requirements and essential job functions.

Pay
Hourly rate up to $54.56/HR with overtime paid at time and a half.
