Lead (Senior) Pastor

Mission Alignment

Lead with the Elders the congregation consistent with New Harmony Church’s mission, values, and doctrinal statement.

Unique Responsibilities

• Faithfully preach and teach the Bible as the primary preaching Elder while ensuring other Elders have opportunities to preach according to their giftedness.
• Serve as a Staff Elder and first among equals, working collaboratively with the plurality of Elders.
• Lead all Elder, Staff, and Church meetings, set agendas, and ensure transparency among Elders, Deacons, and the Congregation.
• Act as the voice of the Elder body to the church: casting vision, leading business and family meetings, communicating plans, and calling the church to prayer and fasting.
• Shepherd and administrate the church staff.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates biblical qualifications of an elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9), agreement with church doctrine, ordained or ordainable by a Southern Baptist church.
• A biblical degree from an accredited evangelical seminary or at least five years of pastoral leadership is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
  • Biblical in-depth preaching, counseling, leadership development, conflict resolution, administration, communication, strategic planning, financial stewardship, and team leadership.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to communicate publicly for extended periods;
• Frequently stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, lift up to 25 pounds occasionally;
• Travel locally;
• Work evenings and weekends;
• Perform pastoral visitation in homes, hospitals, and community settings.
