Lead Security Engineer – Proactive Security

About the role

As a Lead Security Engineer within Target Proactive Security, you will take ownership in designing, building, and scaling security solutions to secure Target technologies. You will leverage your security and risk management experience to define security requirements, assess risk, and develop mitigation strategies. You will also build new security solutions and influence across your peers and partner teams.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership in designing, building, and scaling security solutions to secure Target technologies.
• Define security requirements, manage findings, and mitigate risk across multiple business lines, applications, and stakeholders.
• Leverage deep engineering and technical expertise to force-multiply your impact by building new security solutions and influencing across your peers and partner teams.
• Act as a leader within the organization, continuously working to uplevel your team by mentoring team members in security concepts and engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information security, computer science, or related field; or related experience
• 5+ years of engineering experience in one or more information security domains

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in information security, computer science, or related field; or related experience
• 10+ years of engineering experience in one or more information security domains

Skills

• Experience defining security requirements, managing findings, and mitigating risk across multiple business lines, applications, and stakeholders
• Experience designing, developing, and scaling security solutions that enable developers and technology solutions to be “secure-by-default”
• Demonstrated experience harmonizing and aligning business needs with security requirements
• Executive-level communication skills, both verbal and written, to articulate technical topics to a wide range of stakeholders
• Proven ability to own enterprise-wide security projects or programs
• Experience with both on-prem and cloud-based infrastructure
• Experience leveraging AI tools to improve the effectiveness of security mechanisms
• Experience with common security tooling and frameworks
• Relevant security industry certifications

Pay

The pay range for this role is $132,000.00 - $238,000.00, based on several factors including labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. For more information on benefits, visit Target's career page.

Schedule

This position operates as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement, meaning the core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location and virtually, depending on role, team, and task requirements. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
