About the Department

The Facilities Management Division (FMD) is the largest of seven divisions reporting to the Vice President for Finance and Administration. FMD’s staff of over 900 personnel manage, operate, and maintain campus landscapes, buildings, and infrastructure to promote long-term sustainability. fmd.uga.edu

About the Role

This position leads a shop of four skilled trades employees, including Locksmiths and Electronic Security Technicians. The shop performs installation, maintenance, and repair of various locks and campus security systems, including access control components.

Responsibilities

• Leads shop employees while performing installation, repair, and replacement of all types of locks, security systems, and related components. Ensures appropriate materials and tools are available for project work. (65%)
• Manages administrative tasks such as timekeeping, attendance, payroll, and shop inventory. Maintains accurate records of work performed by team members in AIM. Prepares work orders, plans and schedules future work, and provides input for employee performance evaluations. (20%)
• Communicates issues and provides timely updates to the Structural Superintendent. Performs additional duties to support general maintenance operations as assigned. (10%)
• Attends meetings and prepares reports related to shop operations. (5%)

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience.
• Thorough knowledge of locksmith and security access trades, including practices, methods, equipment, materials, and tools.
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
• Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office Suite, AIM, Onesource, and One USG Connect.
• Understanding of technical documents (engineering plans, specifications, drawings).
• Proven ability to multi-task, set priorities, and resolve issues quickly.
• Ability to maintain good relationships with personnel of other departments.
• Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs, stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, and work with hands above head. Ability to work from a standard or extended ladder.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive as needed for job duties.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience.
• Knowledge and experience with locksmith and security access control systems.

Pay

Advertised salary: $60,000 or commensurate with experience.

Schedule

• Full-time position.
• Standard work schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
• Occasional after-hours work (evenings and weekends) due to emergency situations or planned work.
• On-call rotation schedule.
