Responsibilities
- Perform all duties of the Scheduler and provide final oversight and direction for the daily/weekly surgery schedule.
- Update and maintain the block grid.
- Coordinate block requests with surgical leadership and assist in answering questions or guiding surgery schedulers.
- Schedule surgical procedures, including complex procedures requiring multiple resources.
- Schedule procedures for endoscopy, pain, infusion center, and pre-admission testing.
- Instruct doctor's offices and patients about pre-procedures, clinical preparations, and obtain basic demographic and insurance information, ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Review physician orders and confirm their completeness and accuracy using FACSys electronic software and the Paperless Order Process.
- Confirm Medical Necessity criteria on Medicare accounts using Norton Healthcare Medical Necessity software.
- Ensure that physician block time is appropriately utilized.
Qualifications
- One year scheduling experience.
- Desired: Three years surgery scheduling experience.
- Some prior leadership experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED.
