About the role
The Salvation Army is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church, dedicated to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and addressing human needs through spiritual, social, and rehabilitation programs. This position is accountable for meeting store sales and income budget expectations while managing expenses to maximize profitability.
Responsibilities
- Takes an active role and partners with the Store Manager in daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, point of sale operations, inventory management, and ARC merchandising standards.
- Assumes responsibility for all day-to-day store operations (including personnel and cash handling) in the absence of the Store and/or Assistant Manager.
- Discusses concerns with District Sales Manager.
- Maintains and analyzes key performance indicators to drive store sales and increase profitability as projected by budget and goals set by Command Retail Directors and Command Administration.
- Schedules Store Employees to ensure appropriate coverage in store and donation center, coordinates daily morning and shift change team meetings, and provides coaching, training, and development to the Store Employees.
- Processes paperwork per Review Standards, especially as it relates to Time and Attendance compliance.
- Ensures high levels of Customer and Donor satisfaction through excellent service to meet their needs while also maintaining good Community relations. Develops strategies to improve service to maximize the customer experience.
- Supports Store Manager to ensure Back Room Processors/Warehouse Associates work effectively and efficiently to meet daily processing goals.
- Supervises, supports, and reports on the conduct of program Beneficiaries if Work Therapy Assignments are implemented at the store.
- Protects and secures store currency, inventory, and property, including safe funds (daily logging of cash deposits), bank deposits, products for sale, store equipment, and building security.
- Affirms safety measures established and maintained consistent with ARC policy and governmental regulations, and reports any safety issues or incidents immediately.
- Assists Store Manager and Assistant Manager with conducting and recording mandatory Weekly Store Meetings.
- May transfer or be relocated to other stores based on business needs.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one-year previous retail experience and supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, store employees, customers, and donors.
