About the role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Lead Safety Specialist to support and strengthen Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs across assigned locations. This role is responsible for promoting a strong culture of workplace safety, ensuring compliance with environmental and occupational safety regulations, and supporting day-to-day EHS operations in a fast-paced corporate environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational safety programs, auditing, incident investigation, compliance management, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support EHS programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, risk assessments, and workplace safety evaluations
- Maintain and track site safety metrics, documentation, and compliance records
- Lead incident investigations and recommend corrective and preventive actions
- Cookpport Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities, including recruitment, training, and evacuation drills
- Deliver safety awareness training and promote a proactive safety culture
- Investigate employee safety concerns
- Aid with emergency preparedness and after-hours response when necessary
- Support workplace health initiatives and return-to-office safety efforts
- Responds timely to additional requests from onsite management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Security, Facilities, and Workplace Operations
- Prepare reports and communicate findings, concerns, and recommendations to management and stakeholders
- Support onsite and offsite events requiring health and safety oversight
- Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to safety and security personnel within assigned areas
- Support regional and global EHS projects and initiatives as needed
- Travel to additional locations as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of related EHS experience
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental health & safety standards
- Experience with audits, compliance programs, incident investigations, and risk mitigation
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred
- ISO 45001 experience is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and Visio
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Able to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience leading teams and collaborating across departments
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must have reliable transportation and communication
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Willing to complete pre-employment screening, including background investigation and drug screening
- Valid passport or ability to obtain one required
- Willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% or more, occasionally with limited notice
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends during emergencies or critical events
