Job Summary
The Lead Specialty Nurse RN is responsible for coordinating clinical operations and delivering quality care in a specialty office setting. They assist Medical Group office management and provide guidance to clinical staff.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Affords assistance to office management by coordinating the daily work of clinical employees.
- Communicates work instructions, distributes assignments, and monitors work for quality and completeness.
- Promotes effective teamwork throughout the department and assists staff through changes.
- Provides direct patient care as a RN, including assisting specialty providers with specialized procedures.
- Serves as the central point of contact for nursing and clinical standards within the office setting.
- Acts as the central point of contact for nursing clinical practice work flows as it relates to the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Maintains knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to ensure a professional, safe environment.
- Serves as the nursing resource liaison between internal/external departments.
- Maintains adequate clinical supplies, medication storage, and PAR levels.
- Maintains clinical equipment in operating condition.
- Ensures emergency equipment and medications are up to date and in appropriate condition.
- Attends office staff meetings and training sessions, relaying pertinent information to clinical team members.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Graduate of a professional nursing education program.
- At least 2-3 years' experience working within a specialty office setting.
- Proficient ability in using electronic medical record, specifically established nursing work flows.
- Problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact with various clinicians, providers, staff, and patients in a positive manner.
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions and work responsibilities.
- Ability to influence, guide, and motivate others to perform their jobs effectively.
- Positive attitude and ability to be a positive agent for change.
- Attention to details of a project or task.
- Must be able to work in a self-directed environment and lead teams.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, EMR.
PREFERRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
- Current New York State licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS/CPR certification.
- Additional certification in relevant nursing specialty (PREFERRED).
